The Sea of First Dreams
O Mar dos Primeiros Sonhos
In this painting, I explore the quiet bond between two children fishing by the sea, sharing moments of waiting, curiosity and discovery. One sits on the rocks while the other looks towards the horizon, where distant sailboats cross the sunlight.
I am interested in how the simplest childhood experiences can become lasting memories. Fishing becomes a metaphor for shared time and the first dreams that begin to take shape.
I worked primarily with a palette knife, building a textured surface through layers of impasto and geometric fragments that subtly shift the figures and landscape.
Luminous blues contrast with the warmth of the skin and rocks, creating an atmosphere of serenity and discovery. Rather than simply depicting children fishing, I wanted to evoke a time when the world seemed as vast as the horizon itself.
