Portrait and personal tribute
I painted this work as a tribute to my wife, Sofia. Her face appears among roses against a turquoise background. Colour, texture and fragmented forms give expression to this personal portrait.
The roses and planes of colour extend the figure’s presence beyond her face. I present this painting as an example of my approach to portraiture and as a starting point for discussing a work dedicated to someone special.
