The Memory of an Embrace

In this painting, I explore a tender moment between a woman and a young girl, perhaps mother and daughter, surrounded by light and nature. The woman embraces the child as they look towards the landscape, sharing a gesture of closeness, protection and serenity.

I am interested in how simple expressions of affection become lasting memories, often connected to places, colours and sensations.

I worked primarily with a palette knife, building a textured surface through layers of impasto and geometric fragments that subtly shift and overlap the figures and landscape.

Their pale dresses contrast with the greens, pinks and blues of the garden, creating a luminous and delicate atmosphere. Rather than simply depicting an embrace, I wanted to evoke that emotional place where love, childhood and memory come together.
